Remember, Remember… to start planning Bonfire Night much earlier this year.
Is it just us, or does it sneak up on you too?
Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes night) may fall on the same day each year (5th of November) but it’s easy to forget it’s coming up.
Whether this is your first time hosting a bonfire night celebration or you’re looking for new inspiration for this year’s festivities – we’ve got you covered!

We know that in order to make fireworks night celebrations that bit EXTRA special you’re going to want your event to:
- be warm and cosy
- have a gorgeous drinks table
- the BEST fireworks display (we’re sure you’ve got that one covered)
- have super comfy seating
- stun with EPIC sparklers
- provide delicious sweet and savoury treats
- entertain
- and be unforgettable!
We love how easy it is to create your OWN bonfire night gathering set to impress!
Get ready to be inspired by these fabulous hosting ideas for your next fireworks night event.
1. Cosy up at the Fire Pit
It kind of goes without saying – but a fire pit is a MUST for your November 5th celebration, to keep guests warm and able to stay outside for the duration of the festivities.
The warm glow of the fire sets the vibe for the whole evening – also perfect for toasting marshmallows (or making s’mores – more on that below)
Depending on your outdoor space and décor – you may want to go for a stone fire pit if your garden or patio is more modern, and the brick or rustic metal for a more traditional but nonetheless cosy feel.
2. Stunning Self Serve Bar

Take inspiration from this stunningly chic drinks table idea.
Using stainless steel thermal urns to serve warming drinks such as hot chocolate and hot apple cider (why not bring out the mulled wine a little earlier this year!)
Make sure to guide your guests with the super cute easel signs displaying what’s on offer.
Use disposable cups to avoid washing up later or check out the beautiful option we found below.
3. Super Comfy Seats
credit:
These gorgeous outdoor chairs are the perfect addition to your outdoor space – looking so inviting positioned around the fire pit!
They are foldable too – so no need to keep them out all winter long.
Waterproof cushions are a MUST HAVE to stress less over potential spillages.
4.Snuggle Up Cosy Blankets
credit:
Can we talk about how cute this snuggle up sign/blanket rack is?!
Even if the weather is mild on the night – if your guests are sitting still they’ll likely get cold quickly.
Place an abundance of warm blankets or throws in a tub or bucket for your guests to help themselves throughout the event.
These are the small details that people won’t forget and what make them feel super welcome.
5. Warm Up By the Fire(Place)
credit:
So we’ve talked fire pits but how about a mini outdoor fireplace to keep your guest’s feeling toasty?
This gorgeous fireplace feature would make an excellent permanent element to your outdoor space – this is bound to be the talk of the party too, not just keeping everyone warm!
We love the 360 option offering heat at a full 360 degrees – perfect for your guests to sit around.
But the traditional one (like the photo) has to be our absolute favourite for its looks!
6. Garden Illumination
credit:
Attractive garden lighting like this idea is one way to kick off your bonfire night celebration.
String the beautiful fairy lights up over your seating area – providing warm light for your guests to sit out under.
Don’t forget your trees and fence/walls with lights – make use of the areas to hang the lighting from.
Find a spot for a lantern or two as well to complete the look and add extra cosy light.
7. Dazzle with Sparklers
credit:
Sparklers are for all ages!
It’s also a perfect photo opportunity to capture the memories of this annual bonfire night celebration – get your cameras ready!
We always have a bucket of cold water at the ready for used sparklers to be put in.
We love the idea of popping a number 5 sparkler candle (for November 5th) on top of your bonfire night dessert, cake or even cupcakes to mark the occasion.
8. Pick n Mix Bar (Savory and Sweet)
credit:
Create a pick n mix bar for all of your guests sweet and savoury favourites!
Using the woven buckets – line them with baking parchment and fill with crisps, popcorn, pretzels and sweet treats etc.
Place them on top of the table covered with brown paper as a table cloth.
Use markers to write what’s what for each of the baskets – we much prefer this over making tiny flimsy cards that usually blow away and this way your guests can read it much more clearly.
9. S’mores
credit:
We see no harm in adopting this American campfire treat on this year’s November 5th event.
Gather the above ingredients into a flat dish (like the image) and invite your guests to join you for s’mores by the fire or….the microwave haha.
We found this straightforward way to achieve S’mores even without a cosy fire pit in your garden.
As mentioned above you can always use disposable cups for the hot drinks BUT these copper mugs are too pretty not to share – we love how they’ll reflect the light too!
10. Bonfire Night Welcome Sign
credit:
Welcome your guests as soon as they arrive with this super fun welcome sign.
Let them know what to expect for the fireworks evening.
We like how you can customise this to your liking!
Position some lanterns near the sign to cast some light over the wording in the dark.
11. Outdoor Movie Magic
credit:
Sadly fireworks displays only last so long – here’s another great idea to keep guests entertained.
Set up an outdoor cinema (weather dependent haha) for your guests to enjoy under the stars.
A great way to extend the evening beyond the usual bonfire festivities and host an unforgettable bonfire night party
